1. If you want to say in Russian “too” (in the meaning “the same as”) use word “то́же”.
Let’s look at some examples:
- Вы бы́ли в Ита́лии? Я то́же! – Have you been to Italy? Me too!
- Ей нра́вится э́тот фи́льм, мне он то́же нра́вится. – She likes this movie, I like it too.
- У вас сего́дня был уро́к? У нас то́же не было. – Did you have a lesson today? We didn’t have either.
Note: person you need to use in the proper case form according of its grammar role in the sentence.
2. To say “the same as” use “то же” or “то же са́мое”. Please pay attention that “то же” here we write separately, as two words.
Examples:
- Я ви́дел то же, что и они́. – I saw the same thing as them.
- Что ты бу́дешь зака́зывать? Я закажу́ то же са́мое, что и ты. – What will you order? I will order the same as you.
- Это тот же челове́к, кото́рого мы ви́дели ра́ньше. – This is the same person we saw before.
- Сего́дня мы обе́дали в том же рестора́не, что и вчера́. – Today we had lunch in the same restaurant as yesterday.
Note: the pronoun “то” we change according to the gender and case.
